About Newbury Junior Netball

Newbury Junior Netball Club was formed in 1990 by a group of local players concerned at the lack of young players coming through to play in the Newbury Netball League.

Newbury Juniors celebrated its 25th year in 2015 and we held our first Under 11 and Under 12 Tournament at Park House School to celebrate this. We have since held the tournament for the younger age groups on a yearly basis. If you would be interested in being on our distribution list when we send out the tournament information, then in the first instance please contact our head coach Zoe on [email protected].

We coach girls from the age 10 to 16 years old with Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14 and Under 16 Squads. Our qualified coaches run the weekly club training night on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

We are a competitive club who strive to give girls the opportunity to learn the skills to play netball at club level, offering opportunities for competitive netball in and around Berkshire.  All our teams in Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14, Under 15 and Under 16 squads play competitive netball in the Berkshire Junior Netball League.

Newbury Junior Netball Club is England Netball Bronze CAPS (Club Action Planning Scheme) accredited.

This award recognises good practice, a commitment to development and duty of care. It is recognised by the governing body and Sport England. We encourage a healthy attitude to winning and losing and the club expects this from all players, parents and officials.

BRONZE CAPS AWARD

England Netball’s Club Action Planning Scheme (CAPS) is aligned to the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme which is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. Clubs achieving this accreditation are recognised nationally as having a well-run club which is ACTIVE and ACCESSIBLE. This means getting the best out of young people and giving everyone a sporting chance. CAPS has three levels of accreditation; Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Bronze CAPS is the first level, incorporating the Clubmark criteria and covers the areas of safeguarding and protecting children, quality coaching and officiating, equal opportunities and good management.
